CHEATING THE BACKGROUND
Here, we got the original shot with a Canon 500D camera, the background was in color format just like the Model in the forefront of the picture.
After the picture was taken, we imported the image to Adobe Photoshop CS6, most photographers and graphic artists would have had the background cropped out and changed into something else but we decided to retain this beautiful grunge like background.
Trim your subject completely just like you would do when you want to crop and change the background of an image but instead of delete; you should duplicate the subject, now you have two layers(one with the background, one with just the subject, desaturate the layer with the layer with the background.
There you are, merge the two layers together and you will see the same result as the picture above.
