HOW TO SNAP ON THE STREETS
I’m can talk for myself but not for any other photographer
who does STREET PHOTOGRAPHY.
I actually snap my subject standing in front of them but
they still don’t get to know I’ve taken their picture(s); you wonder how I do
such…? Here’s the trick:
*Get a lens you feel you can trust for what you want to do;
*Study your lens with your camera, I mean looking at your
view finder, try to know how far and how wide the lens can cover, know what the
lens would cover at each point of the zoom, do your finds using the marks on
the lens; Know what 18mm will cover, know what 19mm will cover, 20mm, 21mm 22mm
up to the range of lens you have…
*Now hang on you camera strap then let the camera lay on
your chest or belly depending on how long the strap is; then try taking shots
without lifting the camera, take several shots then see what you’ve got;
*Now go outside your house and repeat the snapping actions
using different zoom ranges. Once you’re sure you’re ok with studying and
snapping without lifting the camera from your body, then you’re ready to go
out.
This has helped me so much because, most people gets to know
I’m snapping once I my camera up but I’ve made them feel relaxed while I get
good shots without their knowledge.
The First picture here shows the bicycle repairer looking at me but has no idea I had already taken his picture.
The second picture shows what I turned the picture into when I got home and selected the best out of them.
The third picture you see here was after I entered the NIKON I AM NIGERIA photo competition , I actually became the second runner up just because I used Canon and not Nikon.
